Creative Arts: Heart And Soul
I am not particularly talented with anything that relates to the arts, but I have the utmost respect for them. Seeing someone dance, sing, paint, draw, or write brings joy to my heart and brings color to what can be a very grey world. If I do any art at all, it is confined to the realms of writing, but I sometimes dare to venture out into the great unknown of artistic expression. I will dance when no one is around, sing in the shower, or write poems that others do not see, but for the most part I take the arts in.
I remember I once saw a big dark felt bowl at the Hirshhorn Museum of Contemporary Art in Washington D.C. I do not remember what it was title, but I remember one thing about it that has stayed with me through the years. That was its depth. When you stared into its cavernous interior, you could not help but be overwhelmed with darkness. You saw the black material all around your head, and gazed into what seemed like an infinite space. My imagination went wild, and little 8th grade me thought I was an astronaut embarrasingly without a spacesuit in zero gravity. It was dizzying, exciting, invigorating, and frightening. Art does things to you if it is done right, and that large bowl sure did its job.
Art is aesthetic, and gives you the sense of being alive. It does for me at least. This section is devoted to my artistic adventures, be they producing art outside of myself, or internalizing the beautiful works of others.
