Research: Visceral Learning
I remember high school science labs. I remember the dread in my heart as I walked into my biology class, waiting to fail miserably at yet another dissection. I also remember my first research paper. It was about Jack Kerouac, the founder of the beatnik movement in the 1950's. I remember the thrill of scouring through old books, trying to make some sense of something I knew nothing about. There was something gritty about it...something visceral. Since my first experiences with research, despite my miserable dissection skills, I have always felt a rush of adrenaline when I make progress on a project. Research is learning in its most basic form.
Truthfully, both my scientific and literary research experiences from years past have informed my college efforts. Research is where I see the common knowledge of tomorrow discovered for the first time. At the time of writing this, my research "comfort zone" lies within examination of the humanities and soft sciences. I hope to one day write an adequate lab report on squid brains.
In this section, you can find documentation of my research efforts.
